Biography
The totally Brazilian style of Giselle Martine has been very received outside her country. One of her most recent shows, when she sang especially for the Queen of Sweden, on board a maritime cruise in Cannes (October of 2003) - was just one more of many events of her international career. With a number of shows scheduled for the next year (2004), Giselle will sing together with two great names of the Swedish Jazz, the saxophonist Hector Bingert and the pianist Claes Crona, as a special guest in a Brazilian music tour of her new country of residence, Sweden.
Giselle also was a feature or main performer in other shows in Sweden (2002-2003) and starred a successful three-month tour all over Germany (1999-2000), including shows in Austria and Switzerland. Out of Europe, Giselle toured Macau, China, (2000) by special invitation of the local Government, in order to represent Brazil in Lusofonia Festival, the Third International Meeting of the Countries of Portuguese Language.

In the competitive Musical Festivals typical of Brazilian culture, Giselle collected about 20 awards - first, second, third places and better interpreter - two of which for her own compositions.

A serious researcher of Brazilian music, Giselle holds in her personal files a considerable amount of unpublished compositions of some of the greatest Brazilian composers of the decades of 40’ and 50’, as Custódio Mesquita, Assis Valente, Geraldo Pereira and Wilson Baptista, among others.

In the recording scene, she also recorded along with Brazilian artists of national importance as Kid Morengueira, Ademilde Fonseca, Pery Ribeiro, Zezé Gonzaga, Roberto Menescal, Erasmo Carlos and the vocal group Quarteto em Cy, among others. She provided back vocals for Tito Madi, Dóris Monteiro, Alcione (along with the vocal group Os Cariocas) and Emilio Santiago. As solo singer she recorded in vinyl for the Nó Brasileiro, a discontinued group.

Her exclusive recording, Diamantes (Diamonds), received personal support from nobody other than the greatest Brazilian composer of the present time, Chico Buarque, who sings with Giselle in one of the songs of the record.

She performed along with icons and personalities of Brazilian music as Luis Eça, João Donato, Durval Ferreira, the vocal group Boca Livre, Ademilde Fonseca, Kid Morengueira, Jorge Vercillo, Simone Guimarães, Pery Ribeiro, Roberto Menescal, Wanda Sá, Milton Banana and Tito Madi, among others.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, daughter of former professional musician, Giselle Martine is a bachelor in Law who chose to follow her singing career. Her current project is a new solo CD, as well as presentations in Music Festivals in Europe, singing what she likes the most: quality Brazilian Popular music.
